What this service actually is
Most “eco” travel is a marketing label. A hotel puts a card on the bed asking you to reuse a towel and calls itself sustainable. There is rarely anything behind it you can check.
We do two things about that. First, we keep a directory of accommodation and sites that we have actually assessed against defined criteria — energy, water, waste, sourcing, and how much of the money stays in the local community. It is free to browse and free to use. Second, if you would rather someone build the whole trip around those places, we do that as a paid service with a named specialist.
You can use the free side forever and never pay us anything. That is deliberate — the directory is how you find out whether we know what we are talking about.
